Canada’s Caribbean, African and smaller community publications
24 publication records · 21 published email contacts · 15 records with phone numbers. Twenty-two publications are new to the combined register; Vision Newspaper and Afri-CAN Magazine are existing entries enriched with phone and desk details. The combined communication export now contains 350 records.
Coverage and editorial fit
The Canadian section includes Toronto and the GTA—Scarborough, Brampton, Ajax, Thornhill, Concord, Peel, York, Durham and Halton—alongside Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton/Calgary and Vancouver. It combines Caribbean and African diaspora titles, Black Canadian magazines and smaller Toronto community publications. It is a researched selection, not an exhaustive list of every Canadian city or publication.
General neighbourhood papers are labelled as such. Pitch a concrete local connection: Toronto-area residents, a local cultural organization, a public information session, diaspora research, or an approved learning opportunity linked to the proposed Damongo development. For Torontoville coverage, explain the Canadian community connection. Do not present the proposed project as completed or imply jobs, placements or scholarships are already available.
Routing rules:
- Share: included as requested under its newspaper identity. Email and phone come from published press directories; the outlet website could not be confirmed. Reconfirm before use.
- ByBlacks: its FAQ says it does not publish press releases. Send an original story or interview proposal only, after confirming the editor’s published legacy email.
- Black Voice: the official submission page prints a .com address while the outlet is hosted at .ca. The candidate is recorded in the verification note and withheld from the email field pending confirmation.
- Pride News Magazine: the Caribbean title appears in a legacy ethnic-media listing; its former website now carries unrelated material. Do not use current website contacts as this title’s newsroom.
- TCN Now: Toronto Caribbean’s site redirects there, but its contact page shows unrelated template details. Placeholder addresses and numbers were excluded. The directory phone is a verification lead.
- The Bridge: accepts material relevant to Toronto’s Downtown East, with articles up to 700 words.
- Advertising: commercial addresses are listed separately and were not included in the editorial contact import. Ask for rates and sponsored-content terms through those desks.
Database status
All 24 publication records, with sources and routing notes, are saved in DMC outreach research. Twenty-one distinct published email addresses were imported into the DMC contact system; the import found no existing email matches. New contacts have no asserted marketing permission, and existing suppression rules were preserved. No emails, calls, texts or automatic copies were sent.
Published contact information has not been delivery-tested. “Reconfirm” and “hold” entries are research leads, not a ready-to-send list. Confirm current operation, desk responsibility and future-copy preferences before distribution. Vision and GTA Weekly share a publisher, so avoid duplicate pitches without a distinct reason.
